It seems like everyone is writing about PSY these days. In the last 24 hours since I scheduled the posting I have seen 3 other blogs about it. PSY is really taking off!

This is absolutely nuts. I can’t seem to ever keep up with the KPOP music here in Korea. There are quite a few groups, all with tons of people in them with names I can’t seem to remember. All I do know is that some songs are incredibly catchy and are played all over the city.

Today, as I was scrolling through CNN’s website, I came across this song. Gangnam Style. I can’t believe it made it to CNN. You can see the video here. CNN Video

Park Jae Sang, AKA PSY,  has not had amazing luck with music. In the past, his music has been very controversial here in Korea. His first album got him fined and the second was banned!

Gangnam is a part of town in Seoul. There are a few things that I, living here, pick up on as hysterical (sunbathing in the park, the fun dance moves, swimming in the jinjilbang, the ajumas on the colorful party bus) If only I could figure out who that adorable boy is!

This song has over 10 million views on Youtube in 3 weeks and has been tweeted about by Josh Groban and T-Pain.

Know your Meme has some hysterical adaptations (yes I watched them all)

If you want to know what the song is about, read below. But basically it is about the Gangnam area (upper class, fancy neighborhood) and the conservative day time women and how they get wild and cray at night. More importantly he is making fun of the “hipster” type saying something along the lines of, “I’m super cool…date me”
